The decision between replacing your old windows or installing storm windows is the subject of a long and bitter ongoing debate among designers, architects, contractors, and home-lovers. There are many factors to compare, and each situation is very unique. Trying to assess the different factors gives many people a headache and often leads to rushed choices and misguided decisions.

When it comes to decorative windows, nothing beats a bay. These windows, which bow outward from the wall, can be rounded, square or polygonal and often incorporate distinct sections. A box bay contains one middle window pane recessed the farthest from the wall and two angled panes on either side, which are generally smaller than the one they surround. Bow windows have several panels but are more circular in shape.

Looking for window prices online? You might be disappointed. For every twelve window manufacturers you might be able to find one or two prices on the manufacturer’s website. And when you do finally find a price, it will probably be a vague range of numbers, such as $5,000-$25,000. Not helpful, right? What’s up with all the cloak and dagger when it comes to window prices?
